The Floating Meadow & Chill Garden

The Floating Meadow & Chill Garden launches at Paddington Central for World Planting Day

Paddington Central is delighted to announce it’s newest arrival, The Floating Meadow and Chill Garden – converting the ‘Paddington Pioneer’ into a floating floral oasis adorned in wildflowers and grasses. Offering a series of green-fingered pop ups, workshops and talks throughout spring, Paddington Central is guaranteed to be London’s must-visit urban sanctuary this season.

Launching on World Planting Day, Wednesday 21st March, in conjunction with local horticultural & landscaping specialists Clifton Nurseries, the boat will be seeded with specially selected blooms that will prosper in the transition of seasons, bringing laid-back, country meadow vibes to Paddington Central. Docked on Grand Union Canal, local workers and residents will be inspired to sow, nurture and flourish their way through spring, offering a much-needed city escape and fresh air.

Clifton Nurseries, based in Little Venice, have decked the boat with a lively and vivacious display of seasonal plants creating a visual feast for the eyes in the heart of the West End. A pop-up plant shop will take residency on the lower deck of the barge until 29th March, selling plants and planting accessories alike.

Garden journalist and author of ‘How To Grow Stuff’ Alice Vincent will host a string of talks on the boat during March. For World Planting Day, sessions will include ‘Growing For Wellbeing’ and ‘Greening Your Urban Space’, followed by ‘The Easiest Edibles To Sow Now’ on 28th March, providing attendees with advice and inspiration for their own gardens.

Akin to a greenhouse, ‘The Glass House’ pop up at Paddington Central will be the latest installation for Londoners and visitors to the city to enjoy. Built with an elegant frameless structure, the installation will offer the perfect instagrammable moment for evening strolls along the Grand Union Canal.

As the campus continues to focus on improving well-being & productivity at work, 2,000 free wellbeing plants will be gifted to local residents, workers and visitors to Paddington Central on World Plating Day as a way to boost the overall health & happiness of its inhabitants and the environment that they work in.

Paddington Central is one of London’s premier destinations for business and leisure, with vibrant events and activities occurring throughout the year. Taking pride in and boasting an ever-growing community, Paddington Central is dedicated to the wellbeing of its residents and visitors alike and is very pleased to say hello to Spring.
