As the festive season approaches, we’re delighted to welcome a spectacular winter light installation by one of the most innovative design engineering studios working across the globe today.
Transforming the amphitheatre in Sheldon Square into a spectacle of light, colour and movement, “Chords of Light” is a fully immersive lighting design by London-based design engineering studio Tangent.
Interweaving technology with design at the most sophisticated level, the installation is composed of a contemporary sculptural Christmas tree situated in the middle of the amphitheatre with an array of spotlights lighting it up from the surrounding area.
The tree is accompanied by the latest optical lens technology and the world’s first “gold” coloured LED from Stanley Electric Co. With 32 individual spotlights lighting up the tree from around the amphitheatre, you can trigger a real-time light animation when using the hashtag #PaddingtonCentral on Instagram.
Come down to Sheldon Square and see what happens…
Please note: You will need a public Instagram account to trigger the lights to change.
The latest design for Tangent, winner of the inaugural Lexus Design Award Grand Prix in 2013 and a recent showcaser at the London Design Festival, “Chords of Light” will illuminate Paddington Central with a magical winterscape from the 25 November until the 6 January.
