Winter workshops, charity, Santa visits and more
This Christmas, Paddington Central is all about bringing people together to celebrate and mark a very special season. Alongside unforgettable Christmas parties in Alpine lodges, a visit from Santa, winter walks with special selfie moments, twinkling lights and wreath-making workshops, we’ll also be raising funds for local charities bringing us all together this season…
Read on to plan your Christmas with friends, family and workmates at Paddington Central. ’Tis the season to be social.
Together this season – we can create
We’ve joined forces with Suburban Succulent and Blooming Fair to bring you a season of festive wreath-making workshops.
Running from Tuesday 23rd November-16th December (see full dates below), you can choose between a fresh wreath or long-lasting dried floral arrangement and create something that will transform your front door. Workshops are a £20 donation to charity and will be held in Storey Club at 4 Kingdom Street.
Fresh Festive Wreath Workshops
You’ll learn the techniques to make and decorate an exquisite wreath using fresh seasonal foliage on a 30cm (12") padded moss wreath base. You will also receive a presentation box to safely transport your masterpiece home.
Every creation is different and it’s amazing to see the different styles of wreaths designed even when using the same ingredients.
Ever-lasting Dried Flower Wreath Workshops
Ever-lasting dried flower wreaths are perfect for a feature wall in your home or as a thoughtful Christmas gift and allow you to bring nature into the home through the season lasting months and years with proper care. Built on a natural 30cm (12”) rattan base in a crescent moon design and crammed full of seasonal flowers, foliage and seed heads, the workshop will take you through the process and steps of making an everlasting wreath.
Together this season – we can make a difference
This year we are partnering with @callinglondonuk and @care4calais to collect and redistribute unwanted warm coats to over 600 Afghan refugee families being housed in Westminster (300 of whom are children). If you have any clean, unwanted coats, please hand them to our Reception team at 2 Kingdom Street W2 6BD during business hours Monday to Friday by 6th December.
Calling London is a voluntary organisation that encourages Londoners to help those most in need, by donating their unwanted winter coats and jackets. Their wonderful volunteers sort the coats and jackets in early December and then distribute them to various partner charities who give them out in time for the cold weather. They work with charities of all sizes that serve women and young children in shelters, young adults, the homeless, the elderly and refugees.
Care 4 Calais is a volunteer-run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France and Belgium. Operating year-round, their focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. They also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops.
Support Westbourne Park Food Pantry
Westbourne Park Food Pantry targets people who are struggling to pay bills, or having to cut back with shopping. They are the next step on from a food bank. People sign up and become members then pay £5 but can then pick and choose items that are worth up to £15. We then use the £5 to buy any basics that aren’t donated.
Members can come back each week as, unlike food banks, this can help to build long-term relationships and bring a sense of belonging and ownership. This year if you can donate any basic items such as tinned foods, dried goods, tea, coffee, nappies, sanitary goods, toiletries, sweets and snacks as well as seasonal treats, take them to reception at 2 Kingdom Street and find out more about their work.
Buy your cards from PIP charity Christmas card stall
On 23rdand 24th November at 12pm-2pm in 2 Kingdom Street reception, PIP will be running their charity Christmas card stall. Pursuing Independent Paths supports adults with learning disabilities to achieve their full potential and every year their students design their own Christmas cards to raise money for the charity’s essential programmes and initiatives.
Together this season – we can make unforgettable memories
